Engagement rumors fly about John Utendahl

The tabloids are buzzing about a photo that shows Tyra Banks with a ring on her finger after going to a romantic dinner with her boyfriend of two years, John Utendahl. A photo from the Daytime Emmy Awards shows Tyra Banks with her hand on her hip and a ring on her left ring finger.
Personally, I don’t believe anything celebrity gossip related until TMZ reports it, but it does seem a little suspicious. Her spokesperson said “Tyra is not engaged – it’s her high school ring and she wears it almost every day.”
Tale doesn’t ring true
Tyra Banks wears a ring on her left ring finger every day and this “engaged to John Utendahl” rumor just started today? Hm, that seems a little off to me. Maybe the tabs are just trying to make some instant money. It seems to me that if Tyra Banks had been wearing a ring in the place where a wedding ring goes every day that someone would have already gotten to the bottom of this.
I mean, it’s Tyra Banks! Everyone knows Tyra Banks, who won Best Talk Show-Informative at the Daytime Emmy Awards. But who is this John Utendahl guy?

Well, John Utendahl just happens to be the founder and owner of the largest African American-owned investment banking group in the United States. It’s called the Utendahl group, and yes, that does mean that John Utendahl is very wealthy. Very.
Imagine how much money the two of them would have if they did tie the knot. I can’t imagine the string of zeros that would be in their net wealth as a couple.

John Utendahl was born in Queens, New York, and he still lives in New York to this day, though probably in significantly nicer digs. John Utendahl got his bachelor’s degree in Brooklyn from Long Island University. He got his MBA at Columbia.
John Utendahl is 50 years old and considered the most successful African-American on Wall Street. The News PK reports that John Utendahl is 6-foot-3, so even though Tyra Banks is on the tall side at 5-foot-10, he should have no complaints about her habit of wearing high heels.
Are Tyra Banks and John Utendahl engaged?
It is impossible, at this point, to say for sure whether these engagement rumors are true or not. I do think it is odd that no one has raised a fuss about this ring before and Tyra’s spokesperson said she wears it all the time.
Then again, I saw the photo at the center of these rumors — you can view it at The Sun — and to me it does not look like the type of ring that the most successful African American on Wall Street would give to Tyra Banks, the most successful super model-turned-talk-show-host-and-TV-producer ever. I think. Tyra is not shy about wearing large jewelry, and I suspect that if or when John Utendahl buys Tyra Banks an engagement ring, alien tabloid reporters will be able to see it from thousands of light years away.
